HIP's Investor Roundtable:

Sustainable Apparel

Sustainable or ‘green’ apparel represents $3 billion of annual sales, a still small
portion of the overall $450 billion global apparel market. Due to a
convergence of global trends and consumer attitudes, however, the
sector is poised for substantial growth through 2008 and beyond.

In addition to emerging designers and small-scale producers, major players
are jumping on the green apparel bandwagon. From mass market retailers
like Wal-Mart, the world's largest purchaser of organic cotton fiber,
and JCPenney, to specialty leaders from GAP/Banana Republic to
Patagonia, the race for market share is accelerating.

Who are the designers, manufacturers, and corporations leading the way in sustainable apparel?
What practices and technologies are they bringing to bear? How are they
innovating for Human Impact + Profit (HIP)? Our speakers will weigh in:

  • Scott Leonard, CEO of Indigenous Designs (www.indigenousdesigns.com),
based in Santa Rosa, Calif., sells fair trade and organic apparel and
accessories. From raw material farming to artisan work around the
world, come hear Scott describe what a HIP company in this industry
    looks like.

  • Plus, pop-up speakers, including Joslin Van Arsdale of San Francisco’s Eco Citizen boutique (www.ecocitizenonline.com), providing an overview of sustainable apparel on the market today - and what’s coming soon.
