OAKLAND, Calif. -- Companies that produce goods and services aimed at battling climate change generated $300 billion in annual revenues, surpassing the biotech and software sectors combined, according to HSBC. -
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The World Steel Association plans to finish the first phase of a carbon dioxide emissions data collection effort at the end of the year. The data will be used to show progress on reducing emissions and share best practices in a sector that is responsible for as much as 5 percent of global emissions. -
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Nearly two dozen companies surpassed or set greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals as part of the EPA's Climate Leaders program. 3M, Pfizer, Hasbro, Caterpillar, FPL Group, Sun Microsystems and Mack Trucks received top honors.

The publication also builds on and is consistent with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, an international standard for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions developed through a multi-stakeholder process led by the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
