API helps members of the petroleum industry realize self-made environmental goals, in areas such as pollution prevention, operations, community involvement, crisis readiness, and product safety. STEP -- Strategies for Today's Environmental Partnership -- is a long-term commitment by API to further improve the environmental, health, and safety performance of the industry. API also publishes an annual environmental progress report.
