Donlen and Sierra Club to Give Environmental Leadership Award

NORTHBROOK -- Donlen Corp. will join the Sierra Club to honor a company that boosts industry standards for reducing carbon emissions in the fleet industry.

The organizations recently unveiled a calculator to help fleet managers assess carbon output as part of the Sierra Club's Cool Cities campaign. Now they will hand out an Environmental Leadership Award to promote an industry leader.

"As we as an industry provide more incentives like this recognition, we and the Sierra Club and Automotive Fleet magazine hope to make a gradual, yet powerful impact in cleaner air and carbon-conscious decision making across America," Donlen CEO Gary Rappeport said in a statement this week.

"Joining together, we are in a position to improve air quality and create more cost effective solutions for fleet decision makers."

The award will be handed out in the fall and is being launched with Automotive Fleet magazine.

"Greenfleets are an important and practical strategy to reducing energy costs, global warming pollution, and our country's dependence on fossil fuels," said Glen Brand, director of the Sierra Club's Cool Cities campaign.
